rem⋅i⋅nis⋅cence ~ end of days(101 days)

No more will the title of this blog be "101 days 101 clicks...on random"!
While i wil retain the '101 clicks' in the title, i have to remind myself that 101 days ended on January 15 2009. 71 clicks i've posted so far.
Now to sum-up the experiences and lessons to take forward,i thought i'd post a few points that i found valuable and interesting form another blog, "100-things-ive-learned-about-photography", by Darren Rowse at digital-photography-school.com

1.A better camera doesn’t guarantee better images. The best equipment is that what you have now.

2.Watch the place you want to shoot first with your heart then with the camera.
It’s about who is behind the camera, not the camera.

3.Henri Cartier-Bresson was right when he said that “Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst.”
[.i wil have to agree, for every good picture i've posted, there are umpteen clicks that were bad or worse.]

4. Don’t think about what others may say about your image. If you like it, it’s worth publishing.Everyone has to start little.

5.Never compare yourself to others in a better or worse context.Find your own style of photography. It takes time to become a good photographer.

6.
If you have an idea and immediately you think : No, this is not going to work - Do it anyway.
When in doubt - always shoot.
Believe in yourself.

7.Get inspiration from the work of other photographers.Criticize honestly but respectfully.

8.Be thankful for long and thoughtful comments on your images.Seek out and learn to accept critique on your images.

9.Post processing = Optimizing your image to the best result.

10.Dedicate yourself to photography, but never browbeat yourself too much.

Finally,
Learn to enjoy beautiful moments when you don’t have a camera with you.

This is only a comprehensive list that i've posted as i look back at the past three months of having started a photoblog! There is a lot more in the list that i could relate to, and am looking forward to learn.
There is more of the 100 list
, and each point mentioned in it is interesting and valuable and something every photographer-a newbie or experienced- would relate to.
Do check out the link:
"100-things-ive-learned-about-photography".
Am hoping to come up with a list of my own soon!

rem⋅i⋅nis⋅cence...

december 18 today means its supposed to be pic number 72 to be posted...day 72 of 101 days targeted for 101 clicks..!
now stuck up with no.58 yet...had such a block once earlier at no.37...n thn was able to get back on track...! circumstances like this does really serve the purpose of havin started with 101clicks...to keep a passion from being buried away in the pretext of other priorities in daily life...
wasn't even sure if i would be able to keep up...n get to click passionately and creatively and continue to do so for next 101 days..

but this time with more than 2 weeks lagging its time again to think over..

yes.there has been lots of learning and understanding tht has happened so far...

looking back...when me started out..wasn't even happy with the point n shoot camera i had..!a Canon PowerShot A550...used at every outing with frends..jus to click away and fill up the memory card..! n now...i have to confess...tht i grossly underestimated my camera's capbility.. its this psychological thing u know...envious about better camera..more pixels n zoom n technical specifications or whatever..!!!

still not sure how to carry on and catch-up with the clicks...n get to target 101..! a few things me would now consider doing is:

1. Dedicate blog posts to Canon PS A550...and post in detail abt features of the cam..[hav a few clicks using my mobole phne camera in this blog too..tht aprt most of em are A550 clicks]

2. try clicking using all available features and settings, like long shutter night pic - a panorama - landscaspes - n more macros under unusual lightings..etc.,[me have done a lot of macros recently though..]

going on....

of clicker's block, introspection and more...

having strted out with a target of 101 clicks, one each day..n NOt having clicked anything for 5 daysssss!!!
n tht too at a time when a few wonderful bloggers drop in with inspiring comments..!

somethings wrong somewhere.....n a little introspection reveals it....
clicker's block: inability to click a photograph because something in your mind prevents you from doing it..!
something: an object ,situation or action which is not exactly known or stated..!
uhm.! tht explains it...now i need to move on....

hmm again thinking more abt it...like most blogs,am not sure if i strted this targeting an audience/invisisble audience in mind...
this gets me thinking abt writer's block too...tht blog i strted last november, saw only 3 or 4 posts in 2008...!
this journey,to satisfy the shutter bug in me, started on October 7,2008..,more for doing something purposeful, making each day count abt a passion tht needed revival...sort of a journey on self-discovery, and tht too had revised the target from 365 days to 101 days..!!..short term..!
5 days pit-stop in a 101 day journey is too much to ask for..!

having started out with te motto in mind, "click away..live it up..! each day..each moment", this lapse calls for some action plans/revisons/additons in the route map to 101 days!
1.excuse myself for not clicking every day, but should post a picture each day, including a set of pics for the past 5 days!
2.no posting pictures from archives, but can post for each day froma set of pics clicked after the day, not before!
3.include EXIF data for all pics...and details of editing done...
4.try not to pressurise myself for the clicks..let it just happen as n when it happens..!
5.come out with more natural clicks, reduce the post processing/editing to enhance pics..
6.self-learn,trial n error,try n try n make better clicks each time.
All said and done, one last thingy..
I have to agree that its the post processing done on the clicks tht gives it the extraordinary look it has!
Am not sure of a real/serious/pro photog's take on my attempts, coz i have seen a lot of amazing amateur photogs witha touch of genius..whose clicks inspire...!who don't require much of a digital darkroom to come out with amazing captures..!
I have this in ma mind(fora little of self-motivation):they indeed have a spark of genius n a vision of how best something can be framed as n when they click..! i click and then get a spark as how to display the object/thing better..!
This is where am rite now, hope each day brings in more self-realisation and lessons to learn.

Guess am gettin off with te writer's block now....gotta revive that passion too...

When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs.
When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.

"A part of you has grown in me.
You see we will never be apart...
it's you and me together forever"

20 october 2008

thoughts flowing...
as pen n' paper conspire to be together....
forever..!
